Branching Out

ATC - Moonlight III - Traded
Moonlight III

I’ve plunged headlong into ATC trading.  I think I’m not far from being addicted.  I’m been haunting Artist Trading Card forums, meeting people, signing up for swaps–Whew!– and now I’m a bit bleary eyed.   I’ve been trading cards as fast as I can make them. This owl is on its way to its new home in the Czech Republic.

I won’t go on and on about ATCs.  I’ll just say that they have been a fun way to move out of my comfort zone.   By signing up for swaps (group trades) with different themes I can make pieces that I would never have thought of making in a larger format.

But the thing I really enjoy is one on one trading with people.   I have met some of the coolest people through these trades and received some really beautiful miniature pieces of art.

If you are interested in finding out more about ATCs, or you have a stack that you might like to trade check out these sites.  The members are artists at all levels and everyone is so helpful and friendly:

  1. This owl is so bright and vivid Mellanie. I bet its new owner will love it to bits. I considered getting into ATC’s at one stage but I seem to have so little time these days and it needs quite a bit of commitment. I love reading ATC mags though. Some of the work is unbelievable.

  2. Thanks Ann. I have always admired your ACEOs. I tried to buy one on Etsy, but someone beat me to it.

Cattoo. You should definitely check these sites out. But beware. It’s addicting.

Cathy: Oh thanks. I like your birds and graphics better though. I just got an message from the owner and she does love it. I am so pleased. I’m lucky I have the time right now to do this. I’m enjoying it while it lasts.

  4. Five years! Wow! Thanks for your kind words about my work. I’ll bet we’re in a couple of swaps together right now and will be trading cards soon.
