Winter Takes It’s Toll

This guy looks like how I’ve been feeling the last few days.   It’s probably just winter blahs and the fact that I’ve had a bad cold and I’m lacking any inspiration as far as drawing goes.

Fortunately I had a personal ATC trade with an artist who calls herself Rapa on the IllustratedAtcs.com trading site.   We decided to trade silent film star cards.   I tried my hand at Buster Keaton, drawing him as a younger man in the early 1920s.   Man, his face is amazing.  He was referred to as “The Great Stone Face,”  but I find his face very expressive and melancholic.   Although I didn’t get a great likeness, I think I captured his expression and a sense of vulnerabilty.

  1. Definitely recognisable Mellanie. You have done a good job in capturing him. I didn’t know he was called stoneface though. Congrats on winning the blog giveaway. It is a really pretty painting.
