ATCs? Why not?

Kind of Blue - ATCApprehension

I’ve been doing little doodles and deciding to call them artist trading cards. These are little art pieces that measure 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches and can be created in any medium.

I’ve been seeing a lot of these and thought it would be fun to see what I would be able to do with such a small size. I also like the idea of trading cards with other artists.

These aren’t so original, but still fun to do. I am getting addicted to this comic style. I wonder if I should try trading? I’ll probably need to do something a little more interesting. I’m thinking of putting them up on the ATC group over at Flickr or finding a group on Yahoo. Any suggestions?

I’ve got a new series that I’m working on. Something historical…

Before I sign off, I’m posting another picture by request of my dear husband. This is one of many drawings that I did for the last post in my “The Office” series.   The card above is a cartoon version of this drawing.  I really do like this drawing quite a bit, but I was going for a likeness and it just missed.   Rejected Dawn drawing

That’s all for now!  Thanks for coming by!

  1. Hi

I’m liking this comic book style of yours too – the girl on the left is just great. I like her expression, lovely ink wash and good composition. These look more than good enough to trade to me. There’s a site I remember for trading – if I can find the URL I’ll pass it on.

I share your liking for b&w – I like graphic type work and I’ve been experimenting a bit lately with flowers in b&w – inspire by the natural history illustrations I’ve been doing.

  2. Thanks for your comments everyone! I can see why many artists enjoy making these cards. Trading them seems awfully complicated to me. I think I’ll just stack these up and when I go through a dry spell I may see about trading. Thanks for the encouragement!

  3. Great cards 🙂
You can trade them on Swap-Bot
or keep them because they are so lovely. I have a hard time giving up my work sometimes…. lol but it is worth it 🙂
