In June my friend Anita invited me to participate in a swap/exhibit put on by Art with a Heart in Altrincham, England. The theme was “In Bloom” so I had to do something with a floral theme. So I figured, hey, why not? Sure I hadn’t drawn or painted any flowers in a couple ofContinue reading “A Poppy in a Pinch”

Fangirl Friday: Loki
Enjoyed making this ATC for a trading partner I got acquainted with on my art trading site. Turns out we are both Tom Hiddleston fans, so she requested a drawing of him as Loki from Marvel’s Thor series and I was happy to oblige. I’ve never had much luck drawing Mr. Hiddleston, but this timeContinue reading “Fangirl Friday: Loki”
Secret Solstice Gifts: More Poe
The other day I posted about the Secret Solstice gifts I made last month. Here’s the second gift I made. This was for my old mail art pal Annette. We’ve traded a bit here and there for about five years now. I knew she was a Poe fan and since I’d been drawing a lotContinue reading “Secret Solstice Gifts: More Poe”
Secret Solstice Gifts: Boston Terrier ATCs
Happy Solstice everyone! The year is just clicking by isn’t it? A couple of months ago I signed up for a Secret Solstice swap on my one of my mail art trading sites: IllustratedATCS.com. It’s like a Secret Santa, only we do it in the spring. Each participant is assigned a person to make giftsContinue reading “Secret Solstice Gifts: Boston Terrier ATCs”

Quiet Months
Not much going on in March and April. Too much useless introspection and not enough art-making. The plan for May is to fret less and draw and paint more. We’ll see what happens.
Check Out Mellanie Collins, Artist on Facebook
I just put up a page for my art on Facebook. I’m posting my art and featuring artwork by my friends. So check it out. And if you’d like my page that would make my day. Cheers!
29 Faces Challenge: All the Faces
Here they are! All of my faces for the 29 Faces Art Challenge. Some are good, some aren’t. During this challenge I learned a lot about what stops me from practicing every day. I also finally seemed to understand that not all drawings are going to be good ones, no matter how much I practice.Continue reading “29 Faces Challenge: All the Faces”
29 Faces Challenge Highlights: Days 20 – 28 + bonus
I’ve finished the challenge! I’m so proud of myself. I’ve never completed an art challenge before. I usual drop it by day 10 or so, but this time I did all 29 faces. One for each day of the month and one extra. Here are what I think are the best of the drawings IContinue reading “29 Faces Challenge Highlights: Days 20 – 28 + bonus”
