I’ve finished the challenge! I’m so proud of myself. I’ve never completed an art challenge before. I usual drop it by day 10 or so, but this time I did all 29 faces. One for each day of the month and one extra. Here are what I think are the best of the drawings I did for days 20 – 29. The last image is a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe I made for an ATC trade.
Thanks to all the challenge participants who came by to check out my work. And thanks to all of you new followers out there. It’s so cool to know that people are actually seeing my work! Soon I’ll post a collage of all the faces I made for the challenge: the good, the bad, and the ugly!
I’m taking the 29 Faces Art Challenge put on by Ayla Art this year. We agree to draw or paint a face everyday in February with a bonus day. It can be a sketch or a full painting, journal page, etc. We then post to our blogs or to the Facebook group page.
I wanted to take this challenge because I’ve been feeling to attached to the outcome of my drawings. I’m not having fun and taking risks. I’m losing the joy of creating because I’m too worried about “improving” or being concerned about what people will think. I’m limiting myself and it’s frustrating.
I know many people taking this challenge and getting to know others. It’s a great supportive atmosphere and I am back to having fun drawing again. My great hope is that this month’s challenge will help me move my drawing in a different direction. Maybe shine a bit brighter.
I’ve been doing well. It’s Day 12 and I’m on track. I’m posting to the FB group every day. I made sure to have a buddy in the group to check on me and keep me going. I’m going to do this!
I’ll be posting my favorites weekly and put a gallery together at the end of the challenge. See ya!
