Enjoyed making this ATC for a trading partner I got acquainted with on my art trading site. Turns out we are both Tom Hiddleston fans, so she requested a drawing of him as Loki from Marvel’s Thor series and I was happy to oblige. I’ve never had much luck drawing Mr. Hiddleston, but this timeContinue reading “Fangirl Friday: Loki”

Secret Solstice Gifts: Boston Terrier ATCs
Happy Solstice everyone! The year is just clicking by isn’t it? A couple of months ago I signed up for a Secret Solstice swap on my one of my mail art trading sites: IllustratedATCS.com. It’s like a Secret Santa, only we do it in the spring. Each participant is assigned a person to make giftsContinue reading “Secret Solstice Gifts: Boston Terrier ATCs”
ATC: Something Is Not Right
© 2014 Mellanie Collins 2.5″ x 3.5″ ink and markers on bristol Here’s another film noir-inspired ink portrait. This woman is checking over her shoulder because she thinks perhaps she saw something odd out of the corner of her eye. Or not.
ATC: Poe Caricature
© 2014 Mellanie Collins 2.5″ x 3.5″ ink and markers on bristol I received another request for a Poe artist trading card. Folks sure like their Poe. I think I might have made this one a bit chubby. To any of you who have liked my Facebook Page: Hugs and kisses to you all. IContinue reading “ATC: Poe Caricature”
Quiet Months
Not much going on in March and April. Too much useless introspection and not enough art-making. The plan for May is to fret less and draw and paint more. We’ll see what happens.
29 Faces Challenge: Highlights of Days 13-19
I’ve manage to stay more or less on track with the 29 Faces Art Challenge. It’s the 21st and I’ve done 19 faces so far. Here are my favorites from Days 13-19. I pretty excited! I think I’ll manage to complete the challenge. A definite sea change. What if I can commit to working onContinue reading “29 Faces Challenge: Highlights of Days 13-19”

We’ll hang out, make and trade art, and make a lot of racket. A great way to escape the winterContinue reading “January: On my way to Artzona”
September-October ATC Round-up
Over the last few months I’ve been doing a lot of artist trading cards trades and suddenly it feels like my portrait drawings have definitely improved. These cards are the best I’ve done over the past few weeks. Pleased to have found them nice homes in Canada, Finland, and California. Thanks to all the newContinue reading “September-October ATC Round-up”
2012 ATC Round UP
So much for my creative journey this year. As I look back on 2012 I see a lot of ebb and not much flow. I didn’t spend much time drawing, instead I spent too much time experimenting with art journaling, mixed-media, and collage. Oh, my. I am definitely not a mixed-media collage artist. That’s all I’mContinue reading “2012 ATC Round UP”
ATCs: Cats, Cats, and More Cats
More cats for you here. I’ve been making a lot of these lately. I think because I want to make sure that they aren’t flukes or just happy accidents. I’m so amazed by how well these are turning out. For a contrast, here are some cat drawings I drew in 2008: Big improvement, I think.
