Arte y Pico Award from Paul’s Funky Stuff

Arte y Pico Award
Arte y Pico Award

It’s always wonderful to get recognition from fellow bloggers. A few weeks ago I got this award from Paul at Paul’s Funky Stuff. Paul is a swell guy who runs a very entertaining blog. He features odd pictures, videos, and stories on a variety of topics that would never occur to you. You should check him out.

Paul says The “Arte y Pico” award is given in recognition of support given, comments made and general all around blogging community spirit. How nice is that?

In accordance with the “Arte y Pico” guidelines, I’ve picked five blogs to award. So tough to narrow down but I have chosen these:

1. Gumby the Cat
2. Art & Clairvoyance
3. The Fearless Blog
4. Draw the Line
5. One Pink Goose

No matter what the rules say, no one is under any obligation to pass this along. I just wanted to feature some blogs that I enjoy.

The rest of the fine print…

The Rules thanks to

1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogger community, no matter of language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award-winning, has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winning and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y pico”blog , so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5) To show these rules.

I’ll more awards to pass along this week.

Grumpy Turtle

I took a picture of this grumpy looking fella on my last trip to the zoo.  I did this drawing in colored pencil in my everyday sketchbook.   My intention was to do this again using more textured paper.  If you click on the picture you can see the full-sized scan. Unfortunately I can never manage to adjust the color to match color pencil when I scan. His expression comes through though and I think I nailed it well.

Sarah tagged me last week. I am now revealing my seven random things. Here goes:

  1. I still can’t tell the difference between a Firebird and a Camaro.
  2. I don’t have a cell phone. In fact, I still use a dial phone.
  3. My favorite movie decade: 1940s!
  4. I flunked Drawing 101 in college.
  5. About 10 years ago I got a sudden anxiety about crossing bridges. I couldn’t cross by foot or bike. This proved difficult because our city is split down the middle by a river. I eventually got over it, but I never figured out what triggered it.
  6. I own 5 pairs of shoes (six if you count slippers).
  7. My favorite breakfast cereal is Apple Jacks.

Thanks for the tag Sarah. I’m now going to tag Col/Ann/Sandjida/Paul Please don’t feel obligated. I was just thinking of you guys.

I’m behind in my tags. I have one more that I am embarrassed to realize I got in February. What happened to March?  Now April is almost over! Sheesh!

Thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate the support and all of your lovely comments. My drawing is really improving and I know it’s because I’m feeling more confident in my ability. I have you lovely readers to thank for that! Bye for now.

Tag alert! Here’s Who I’ve Tagged

First I want to feature a wonderful marble drawing I found this morning. Checking my blogroll I saw this post from one of my favorites Andrea Joseph. She does the most amazing detailed drawings of everyday things. As I sat in Portland, Oregon trying to figure out how to draw a marble, Andrea was across the Atlantic masterfully drawing a marble in ink. Her marble is blue as well. Spooky. Check it out.

Now, who I’ve tagged:

Anangeli@ Blue Dreams I just found this illustrated journal the other day, or rather she found me. She does charming pencils drawings

Doudy @ DouDy Sketche I mentioned Doudy in a previous post. I really enjoy visiting over there. I just met him through Blog Catalog and I would love to know more about him.

Mrana @ Bit by Bit I first noticed her pictures on the Flickr Everyday Matters group. I love her colored pencil illustrations.

Martin @ Drawings and Sketches by dibujandoarte I have mentioned Martin’s blog before. Martin has encouraged me a great deal and it would be fun to learn more about him.

Joan Y @ Drawing on Nature I found Joan through EDM and Flickr. She is a wiz with a Pigma Micron .005 and is such an inspiration.

Now each of you say five things about yourself and tag five others. Thanks again Wendy at Quirkyartist for tagging me.

More drawings soon…
