Last week I drew this in my journal. I was trying to write about current events instead of my usual self-absorbed scribblings about what I was feeling. Even I find that boring upon rereading. Anyway, since the Wisconsin and Hawaii contests are today, I thought I might as well post this little drawing here. IfContinue reading “Neck and Neck”

Tag alert! Here’s Who I’ve Tagged
First I want to feature a wonderful marble drawing I found this morning. Checking my blogroll I saw this post from one of my favorites Andrea Joseph. She does the most amazing detailed drawings of everyday things. As I sat in Portland, Oregon trying to figure out how to draw a marble, Andrea was acrossContinue reading “Tag alert! Yay! I’ve Been Tagged!
First here’s a little sketch. I’ve been drawing marbles this week. I’ve been captivated by glass and reflections, so marbles seemed like a good challenge. For this study, I was able to get a little colored pencil practice in as well. I did use Pro-White on the whitest white reflections on the marble. I likeContinue reading “Yay! I’ve Been Tagged!”
Drawing Scissors
I remember years ago I sat and drew pages of scissors as a sort of negative space exercise. Scissors work really well for training yourself to see the spaces around things. EDM challenge 105 gave me an excuse to sit down with these folding scissors. I think they’re pretty cool. I like the name stampedContinue reading “Drawing Scissors”
Fasten your seatbelts…we may be encountering some turbulence.
The U.S. Democratic race is turning out to be quite a roller coaster ride. I can see myself getting really, really tired of all of this drama by the end of February. I already feel like screaming every time I hear the work “change.” It makes me cringe to even type it. Oh well, I’mContinue reading “Fasten your seatbelts…we may be encountering some turbulence.”
And now for those resolutions…
I thought I would put up one last picture in case I’m not able to leave another post before the new year. I did a self-portrait with colored pencils. It relates to one of my resolutions listed below. Now for resolutions for 2008. If I had a dollar for every resolution that I followed throughContinue reading “And now for those resolutions…”
Another go at the phone…
After my little snit about my supposedly sucky drawing, I had another go at the phone. It’s such a lovely phone. It has so many sexy curves and such a satisfying heft to it when you pick up the receiver. I love the way the light hits it. The more attention I give to it,Continue reading “Another go at the phone…”
EDM Challenge 11 – Draw Glasses or Sunglasses
I love having these prompts to work with. It’s fun to take my list and march around the house looking for things to draw. These glasses are pretty cool. They belong to my husband. I think they are from the 50’s. Not that he’s that old. They are pristine, with no scratches on the lenses.Continue reading “EDM Challenge 11 – Draw Glasses or Sunglasses”
EDM Challenge 1 – Draw A Shoe
I joined the Everyday Matters Yahoo group recently. They have a weekly challenge that members can choose to take. There are currently about 147 or so of these prompts. Well I decided to start at the beginning and do number one -draw a shoe. So I grab this shoe and realize how plain it is,Continue reading “EDM Challenge 1 – Draw A Shoe”
Self-Portraits – A Kind of Introduction
Starring in mid-October I decided that I would try for a self-portrait everyday. It’s worked out to every other day and then every other week, but that is surprisingly faithful to my original intent. I usually don’t show that much discipline. It has been pretty interesting to do . Some days my hand and eyesContinue reading “Self-Portraits – A Kind of Introduction”
