See, I’ve actually done a drawing larger than 2.5″ x 3.5″ lately. This one is about 4″x7″. I did this sketch of Michael at a nearby park the other day. It was too hot to be in the house so we went to this park with an abundance of fir trees. I love toContinue reading “Drawing Larger Than 2.5″ x 3.5″”

More Awards!
I can’t believe that August is almost over! I can’t really barely remember it beginning. Oh my. I want to special thank you to Emila Yusof of Emila’s Illustrated Blog for giving me two blog awards. It was very nice of her to think of me. First, there is the Kreativ Blogger Award. This isContinue reading “More Awards!”
EDM Challenge 185 – Draw a Cat
It’s been a while since I’ve done an Everyday Matters Challenge. To be honest, I didn’t do these specifically for the challenge. I was drawing cat cards for various swaps I had signed up for. So imagine my surprise when I went to check what the next EDM challenge would be. When I saw “drawContinue reading “EDM Challenge 185 – Draw a Cat”
Lion Portrait ATC
Here is the finished lion artist trading card that I referred to in my last post.
The King
A friend of mine requested a lion card so I spent much of the morning working on sketches. I’ve not had much experience drawing lions so I was carefully, or rather timidly, drawing with a mechanical pencil and so concerned about getting the right details in. After a number of sketches where my lions lookedContinue reading “The King”
Mysterious Ladies
40s Beauty Here are two of my favorite artist trading cards from the stack I made last week. I’ve been making custom cards and drawing cards for themed swaps, but these I made just for fun. I traded the 40s Beauty on the right, but I’ve decided to keep the one on the left. I’mContinue reading “Mysterious Ladies”
A Quick Portrait Sketch
Here’s a sketch of my husband Michael doing his duty as model. He’s such a good sport. I didn’t even have to add an obligation to model in the marriage vows. He just sees the pen and submits. In this sketch he is ignoring me and reading his book.
Drawing Him Drawing
This morning Michael and I were talking about old trucks and he started to draw one from memory. I whipped out my pen and drew him drawing the truck. It’s really hard to draw someone’s moving hand, but I managed.
Back to Sketching
The other day I was waiting for the library to open and there was quite a crowd of people waiting with me. I grabbed a pen and sketched frantically, trying to draw as many people as I could before the doors opened. It was wonderful to just draw without a plan and not care aboutContinue reading “Back to Sketching”
Busy, Busy, Busy
Here’s one of a small stack of artist trading cards I’ve been making lately. This is from a photo by T. Bruce at Eyes. Mind. Heart. I’ve been making some cards by request which is a nice stretch for me. Barn owls and mini-portraits mainly. I’m also working on another portrait swap, but procrastination keepsContinue reading “Busy, Busy, Busy”
