My husband is on vacation and so I’m taking a bit of a break. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks. Thanks everyone for all of your kind comments. I’m always so thrilled that people take the time to tell me what they think about my drawing. It’s boosted my confidence so much. TakeContinue reading “Taking a Break”

Mysterious Ladies
40s Beauty Here are two of my favorite artist trading cards from the stack I made last week. I’ve been making custom cards and drawing cards for themed swaps, but these I made just for fun. I traded the 40s Beauty on the right, but I’ve decided to keep the one on the left. I’mContinue reading “Mysterious Ladies”
A Quick Portrait Sketch
Here’s a sketch of my husband Michael doing his duty as model. He’s such a good sport. I didn’t even have to add an obligation to model in the marriage vows. He just sees the pen and submits. In this sketch he is ignoring me and reading his book.
Drawing Him Drawing
This morning Michael and I were talking about old trucks and he started to draw one from memory. I whipped out my pen and drew him drawing the truck. It’s really hard to draw someone’s moving hand, but I managed.
Back to Sketching
The other day I was waiting for the library to open and there was quite a crowd of people waiting with me. I grabbed a pen and sketched frantically, trying to draw as many people as I could before the doors opened. It was wonderful to just draw without a plan and not care aboutContinue reading “Back to Sketching”
“You Look Like You Have Indigestion,” he said.
That’s what a friend of mine told me when he saw this picture. You know, he’s right. I like using these water-soluble graphite pencils. I’ve been using the Derwent brand. On this piece I used the HB and 4B pencils. I just love spreading that graphite around with a brush. I found this tutorial onContinue reading ““You Look Like You Have Indigestion,” he said.”
Don’t Know What You’re Doing? Do It Anyway!
graphite and drawing inks Yesterday I sat down to draw and I got out these bottles of ink I had been ignoring ever since I had brought them home. I have been using Copic brush markers for months doing simulated washes on my art cards and drawings. I liked using these markers because I feltContinue reading “Don’t Know What You’re Doing? EDM 23 – Draw Your Feet
After weeks of drawing tiny faces on tiny cards it felt good to get loose and do some simple sketching. I was shocked at how well these feet sketches turned out. If I had carefully tried to draw these they wouldn’t have come close to looking this good. I have been neglecting my sketching lately.Continue reading “EDM 23 – Draw Your Feet”
Portrait Swap with Ujwala
I just completed my first portrait swap. Aside from a little nail biting it went great. My swap was with Ujwala from draw the line. We thought it would be fun to combine a portrait swap for the Portrait Party blog with an ATC exchange. Here is my entry. It took a lot of sketchingContinue reading “Portrait Swap with Ujwala”
Trading My Cards
Hi there everyone. Last week I started trading my art cards. It’s a blast. I’ve traded almost every card I’ve made. I made a few today. Here are two I made using my new comic book style: I’ve already traded the one on the right. Minutes after I posted it, I had someone offer aContinue reading “Trading My Cards”
